The Secretary of State's academy order was issued on 23 July.
City of Doncaster Council has now authorised the legal work needed to complete the conversion.
The specialist provision is proposed to join Nexus Multi Academy Trust from 1 January 2027 as an Alternative Provision Academy.
The council says it is required to complete the formal documentation necessary for the conversion.
Changes to specialist provision can have a significant impact on vulnerable young people and their families.
