A Rotherham man accused of murdering former minister and Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe has appeared at the Old Bailey over an alleged terrorism plot targeting Nigel Farage. Prosecutors allege Joshua Kerry, 28, carried out extensive online research into more than 100 politicians and other prominent figures and had a particular hostility towards Reform UK.
The prosecution alleges the killing of Widdecombe and an earlier attempt to gain entry to Farage's home were politically and ideologically linked.
Kerry is charged with Widdecombe's murder and preparation of terrorist acts and has been remanded in custody. A further hearing is due early next year, with his trial scheduled to begin in June 2027.
