Today we remember PC Harold Grainger who died in the line of duty 52 years ago.
On 26 October 1974, PC Grainger was involved in a fatal collision while escorting a prisoner. The 35-year-old had been a serving officer for just under 12 years and was working in the Doncaster A1 sub-division at the time of his death.
On this moving day, our thoughts are with PC Grainger's family, friends, colleagues and everybody who had the joy of knowing him. We thank him for his dedication to keeping the communities of South Yorkshire safe.
