Friends of a local man are trying to raise £25,000 towards treatment in Germany.
Organisers of the fundraising appeal say Mark Wood, known to his friends as Woody, has been diagnosed with stage-four pancreatic cancer.
The GoFundMe appeal has been organised by Conner Kelsall.
Organisers say Woody is from the Conisbrough community and that friends are now raising money while exploring further treatment options in Germany.
Details of Woody's diagnosis and proposed treatment come from the fundraising organisers rather than an independent medical source.
Serious illness can place enormous emotional and financial pressure on families, and the appeal is another example of a local community rallying around one of its own.
